Missions

The Coat Closet of First Presbyterian Church will open beginning in October 2023 to give away coats for adults and children in need. New shoes will also be available for school-age children and youth while supplies last.  The child must be accompanied by an adult and will need to try on the shoes and coats to make sure they fit. There will be no returns or exchanges.  The dates and times for October are Thurs. Oct. 5 from Noon until 3:00 pm. and Saturday, Oct.7 from 10 am to 1 pm. If you would like to donate clean coats in good condition, please call the church at 740-695-0690.

St. C. Community Coat Closet

The Coat Closet located in the church basement at First Presbyterian Church is open from October through the first week of December on Thursdays during the afternoon to coincide with the Council of Churches Food Pantry distributions from Noon to 3 pm. We are also open on some Saturdays to be announced. After December, we will open by appointment only. The church accepts donations of new or gently worn coats and winter accessories, scarves, gloves and hats, in sizes for children, teens, and adults. Monetary donations are also welcome to purchase new coats and new childrens' shoes for distribution to anyone in need.

Empower Nicaragua

A mission dinner was held in September, 2014 with a special presentation by Robin Vistnes and Jill Vickers along with Mario Rivas and Rydder Hernandes from Ruben Dario Barrio near Leon, Nicaragua. They gave an update about the wonderful success they are experiencing with this program. Designed to provide information and education to teens to reduce teenage pregnancies and teach God's plan for intimacy within marriage, the program teaches teens to Mentor other teens, empowering young people to make knowledgeable decisions about their future.

We pray that God will continue to bless this mission and all those involved with it  Donations may be made on their website or through Royce and Nancy Browder.
